Exploring your Calling
Vocation Course
“Who, me Lord?”
- Have you ever considered some form of Christian ministry?
- Do you wish you could deepen your understanding of the Christian faith?
- Have you wondered what it might be like to study in a College setting?
If you would like to know more about the Christian faith, but are nervous about the thought of study in a College setting, then this course is for you.
“Who, me Lord?” offers a half-way house between formal study in College and coming together for discussion in local parish groups. It gives you a taste of what is expected in a study setting, how you can cope with the reading and writing essays, and the support available.
The course is written by tutors at St Michael's College. It examines areas such as the bible, mission, spirituality, Christian belief and ministry. Easy to follow study guides help you explore each topic. The study guides are self-contained so you don't need to be near a library.
The course begins with a residential overnight meeting at St Michael's College.
There are then 10 weeks to study five topics. You work through the study materials in your own home. Every fortnight you meet up with a local tutor to talk about what you have studied.
At the end of the ten weeks, there is a study day which leads on to the next part of the course. This is a four-week placement – during which you observe the work of a local minister.
