Non-Residential Easter School5th – 10th April 2010

Reflections by a non-residential student following a week of intensive “residence”...

This was the first time we had all been together since the start of the course last September and gave us a good opportunity to catch up with each other. I enjoyed sharing experiences of placements, essay writing, etc – and hearing how others were managing to fit the expectations of the course into the other demands of everyday life. What soon became apparent was the extent to which we had all “moved on” in our journeys of preparation for ministry. As a first year Ordinand, it was also good to compare notes with second and third year students – especially in the pub after a hard day of studies, where we could all relax and have a laugh!

St Mike's feels a bit like a peaceful haven in the middle of a busy suburb – the place has a friendly atmosphere, and the staff are all extremely helpful and sociable. Despite the timetable being very full, I appreciated the opportunities for regular worship together which were part of it – in the calm of the lovely chapel.

Gareth's approach to Spirituality was very refreshing and thought provoking; the various teaching methods he adopted – not to mention the ‘creme egg challenge’ - made the week thoroughly enjoyable. The highlight for me was the labyrinth experience, which, though timetabled, happened to coincide with a beautiful “God-given” day – a very powerful and moving experience.

It was a wonderful week – thank you to everyone who looked after us so well.

EnglishYsgol Pasg 2010

Mae'r Ysgol Basg yn coleg Mihangel Sant yn uchafbwynt i'r myfyrwyr sy'n astudio rhan amser. Mae'n gyfle arbennig i gwrdd a myfyrwyr led-led Cymru, i gyd-addoli, ag i astudio gyda'n gilydd. Mae'n gyfle hefyd i ni gymdeithasu gyda staff y coleg. Roedd yna sawl uchafbwynt i mi gan gynnwys Labrinth y Pasg- y daith tuag at y Groes a oedd wedi ei baratoi yn y capel. Cafwyd noson o encil ysbrydol eto yn y capel o dan arweniad y Parch Gareth Williams. Thema'r noson oedd Tywyllwch yr Adfent a'r hyn mae'n ei olygu. Gan taw hon yw'r flwyddyn ola i mi fel Ordinand, byddaf yn gweld eisiau'r cyfeillgarwch a'r gwmniaeth.
